Tokyo Ravens Season 2: Is There Enough Source Material for Season 2?

Tokyo Ravens started as a light novel in 2010. In the same year, it was turned into a manga, and one of the most popular shounen magazines, Shounen Ace, started coming out every month. Eight Bit also made an anime version of the light novel by Kihei Azzano.

The anime, made by the same studio that made Star Align and was licensed by Funimation, was shown on many local networks, including Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS, tvk, TV Aichi, AT-X, and BS11. The anime aired from October 9, 2013 – to March 26, 2014, in 24 episodes.

Fans still want a second season, even though it’s been long. Can there still be a second season of this action and supernatural anime with beautiful scenery and colorful drawings? Let’s discuss the show and see what we know about the following season.

The Storyline of Tokyo Ravens

Tokyo Ravens Season 2

Demonic spirits assault Tokyo after a ceremony goes awry. Onmyouji warriors are tasked with ridding the city of demonic entities. These people can see ghosts and manipulate their spiritual energies, known as onymous. Schools for Onmyoujis began to open after the accident in Tokyo.

Tsuchimikado Harutora, the protagonist, is a rooted Onmyouji, but he cannot see spiritual energy. Although his friends want him to be an Onmyouji, Harutora refuses. Because he can’t, he escapes the city with his pals to the countryside, where they can enjoy and get away from it all.

Harutora and Natsume, the heir to the prominent family, were childhood friends. Despite his vow to Natsume as a youngster, his lack of spiritual ability means he cannot maintain it. A gifted Onmyouji, Natsume, is the duty of the entire family, which travels to Tokyo to study Onmyouji. Natsume has been dubbed a genius.

Harutora, despite his desire to avoid being Onmyouji and his responsibilities, is unable to prevent his fate. The death of his best buddy and his vow to Natsume prompted him to enroll in a top university in Tokyo. With the help of Natsume, Harutora sets out on his own to avenge the 12 Heavenly Generals who currently rule Tokyo.

Tokyo Ravens: Will There Be Another Season?

Tokyo Ravens Season 2

Eight Bit studio or light novel/manga publishers have not yet decided on the anime’s second season. Despite how long it’s been since the show’s last season, there’s no reason to rule out the prospect of a second one. Even though Tokyo Ravens’ creative studio Eight Bit has shut down, it is still operating as an animation studio.

They consider several essential elements when deciding whether or not an anime will be renewed. In the case of anime, sales and popularity are extremely important because the industry is for-profit. Another consideration is whether or not new seasons will be based on light novel source material already in print. This information led us to make educated guesses about what to expect for Tokyo Ravens season 2.

Based on the Light Novel Storyline

From May 20, 2010, to October 20, 2018, Kihei Azano’s Tokyo Ravens light book series was published, written by Azano and illustrated by Sumihei. Sixteen volumes and an additional 4 volumes are included in the series. The first nine volumes of the main series were adapted in the first season of the anime.

As far as I can tell, there are still 7 volumes of the primary source material. A 12-episode season can still be made even if there isn’t enough source material for 24 episodes in the first season. A new season of an anime isn’t going to do much to improve light novel sales because the show was finished years ago.

Overview of First Season of Tokyo Ravens

Tokyo Ravens Season 2

On October 9, 2013, the first season of Tokyo Ravens was shown.

“Tokyo Ravens” is a plot we’ve seen before, but the 24-episode structure used in Tokyo Ravens makes it unique. As a result, the overall flow was greatly improved. For the sake of character development and the reference material, this change is also necessary. While it is primarily an action-oriented anime, it continues till its stardom thanks to its impressive combat scenes and above-average animation.

The Tokyo Ravens are not a masterpiece, but they are also not a flop. After a sluggish first half, the anime’s second half picked up the pace and began to win over the audience. Characters with sage insight and unpredictable personalities work in your favor the most. These situations, however, become problematic when CGI is used in excess.

Since the completion of the first season, Tokyo Ravens fans have been eagerly awaiting the start of the second. It’s not unusual for anime like One Punch Man to return, but it’s been over seven years for Tokyo Ravens.

Tokyo Ravens’ second season has yet to receive any word from the production studio.

Characters in Season 2 of Tokyo Ravens

Tokyo Ravens Season 2

If the second season comes out, we might meet some new people. The main characters will still be the same, though. Figure out who they are!

Harutora Tsuchimikado is the main character in the first half of the story. He is the son of a Tsuchimikado clan family. Even though he was born into a noble Onmyouji family, he can’t do anything magical. He seems to live a quiet life since he can’t do anything without magical powers.

Touji Ato

Harutora’s best friend from school, Touji Ato. He is in the same class as Harutora at the Onmyo Academy in Tokyo, and when Harutora has a problem, he usually helps her. He can feel ghosts and knows a lot about onmyodo. He figured out that Natsume made Hokuto before Hokuto herself did.

Natsume

Natsume is the second semester’s main character. She was friends with Harutora when they were kids. She is the daughter of the central Tsuchimikado family. She is a rich onmyouji who is going to Tokyo to visit a school. She is also a member of the Tsuchimikado family. People think it is Yakou Tsuchimikado coming back to life.

Suzuka Dairenji

Suzuka Dairenji is the “Prodigy” because he is the youngest of the Twelve Divine Generals. She is the wrong person who is wanted for studying and using a forbidden spell. This causes trouble between Suzuka and the Onmyo Agency. Suzuka comes to the village looking for Natsume so that she can use her magical powers in the Taizan Fukun Ritual, which Natsume has studied with Yakou Tsuchimikado, to bring back his brother.

Conclusion

You should know if there will be a release date for Tokyo Ravens Season 2 or even for Tokyo Ravens Season 3. We’ll find out in 2022 or 2023 if there will be a new season of this anime, but I don’t think there will be.
