According to the show’s description on BET, “On each episode of the eight-episode reality series, Bow Wow will throw a Singles Party with a fresh group of potential dates for the daters. To find out who would be the ideal match for their ex-partner, however, these events are exclusively attended by the ex-spouses. One of the prospects will be invited by the Exes to move into the home and date their ex-spouse for a period of 48 hours. After the two days, the dater will select whether to keep the prospect or return them to the singles pool so they can meet someone new again.


Happily, Ever After’s title track, “Bet,” is the third and final instalment of the “Three-part Knight Series” that was first introduced in NU’EST’s 2016 extended play, Q is. It’s described as a future bass song with “whistling synths” and “staccatoed beats,” and the lyrics talk of a “love that feels like an addiction.” A section of the song “Different” has been compared to “travelling through the universe.”


On April 3, 2019, Minhyun’s solo song “Universe” and its music video were made available digitally as a pre-release track. Filming for the music video took place in Milan and Budapest. Later, the song was added to Happily Ever After’s retail releases.
