Baby Driver 2 Latest Updates You Need to Know!
A thrilling heist picture featuring fast-paced action sequences has been five years in the making thanks to Edgar Wright. Honestly, we’ve been a little antsy to see Baby back in a sequel to Baby Driver.
There have been rumours about a sequel for a long time, but is it actually going to happen? Let’s find out what’s going on.
A Baby Driver 2 Is a Distinct Possibility
Even though a sequel to Baby Driver has not been officially confirmed, the production crew is ready to get started. The sequel is already in the works, according to Wright, who made the announcement in 2017.
“There is still a lot of work to be done before the agreement is finalised. Hopefully, I’ll be able to write a second one at the very least. My mind is a whirlwind of possibilities, “EW got a word from Wright.
There has been a draught script for a sequel written by director and screenplay writer Edgar Wright since early 2019. Ansel Elgort, the film’s star, claimed that he had seen a draught of the script in July 2020.
“Yes, he has shared it with me,” Elgort said in an interview with MTV when asked if Wright had shared the rough script with him. The 26-year-old actor believes a sequel will be made, but it won’t be called Baby Driver 2 because that would be a misnomer.
Here’s a snippet of the interview that we recorded.
In a Variety interview in January 2021, Wright confirmed that the script had been completed. As he put it, “It’s in the book…” I’ve really penned three different versions of the piece.
The Cast of Baby Driver: Who’s Returning?
In addition to the fact that the sequel is currently in development, no casting information has been released. Regardless, we’re hoping that Ansel Elgort will reprise his role as the film’s title character. Lily James, who played Baby’s fling Debora, is rumoured to be returning.
Since the first film essentially closes up the overall story, it’s impossible to determine which characters will return. It’s possible that Doc and the gang won’t be back if the sequel goes in a different direction.
The Story: What Can We Expect From the Follow-Up?
With a beginning, middle, and an unclear end to the first film’s story, it’s hard to predict where the second one will take place.
Miles (commonly known as “Baby”), a getaway driver in Atlanta, is the focus of Baby Driver. His task is to transport a gang of robbers that Doc, a notorious crook, has recruited.
The young waitress Debora, whom Baby met in the thick of his risky and chaotic life, later turned out to be his love interest. The last scenes of Baby Driver saw Baby and Debora reuniting after he had served his prison term.
Baby and Debora are now ready to embark on a new chapter in their lives, but something tells us that their idyllic future will be marred by conflict. For the sequel, we already know that it won’t be titled Baby Driver 2, so we can expect a whole new kind of danger for Baby and Debora.
A departure from the original’s fast-paced action sequences is likely for the sequel.
What Is the Release Date of Baby Driver 2?
The sequel is still in the very early stages of development, and no formal announcements have been made about its release date. As a result, no release dates have been set.
Baby Driver had its world premiere on March 11th, 2017 at the South by Southwest Film Festival, and went on general distribution on June 28th, 2017 in the UK and the US.
We’re going to have to wait a long time until we see Baby again, given the current state of the sequel.
How Soon Can We Expect to See Baby Driver 2’s Teaser?
The official trailer for the Baby Driver sequel won’t be out for a bit. No release date or formal announcement has been made for the sequel yet, therefore the official trailer cannot be predicted. But we know that the wait will be worthwhile.
We’ll be sure to let you know if anything changes.
