Baki Hanma Season 2 Release Date Latest Updates

Few anime series in the martial arts genre are as well-known as the “Baki” franchise. While it is far from reality, there is perhaps no better source of heart-pounding adrenaline than witnessing two trained fighters pummelled one another to the ground and break their bones.

The Netflix original series “Baki” enjoyed significant success between 2018 and 2020, picking up where the 2001 anime “Baki the Grappler” left off by adopting the second portion of the initial “Baki the Grappler” manga series.

On September 30, Netflix launched a new series titled “Baki Hanma: Son of Ogre,” which premiered on the streaming service. Baki Hanma is the third installment of Keisuke Itagaki’s legendary combat manga series, and it follows in the footsteps of its predecessors in terms of adaptation.

Baki’s development as a fighter was chronicled in Season 1 of “Baki Hanma,” in which the high school student trains intending to overcome his father, Yuujiro, who is considered the strongest man on the planet. Baki will come up against several formidable opponents along the way.

Because all 12 episodes of “Baki” were released at the same time, viewers are already clamoring for the show’s second season. Fortunately, the cliffhanger finale of Season 1 almost confirms this, as it teases Baki with an opponent unlike any he has ever faced before. Here’s all we know thus far about the second season of “Baki Hanma.”

Baki Hanma Season 2 Storyline

As Baki ultimately defeated Biscuit Oliva, the strongest man in America, the first season of “Baki Hanma” ended on an upbeat note. Due to his triumph, Baki was able to walk free from Arizona State Prison and receive an acknowledgment from Yuujiro Hanma, Baki’s nigh-invincible “devil” father, who regards him as one of the few fighters worth respecting in the world.

Even Yuujiro appears to be taking an interest in these developments as the last war against his son grows closer to his home country. As far as he is concerned, it will be the most difficult struggle he has ever been involved in.

Baki still has some obstacles to overcome, including Yuujiro, who isn’t the only one. Men have discovered a perfectly preserved caveman encased in ice deep under the Earth’s belly, beneath a nuclear waste site somewhere in the state of Colorado.

In the Baki wiki, this is Pickle, who is described as a “missing link in human evolution” with “unprecedented power” and “ferocity.” “Wildman War — Pickle Wars Saga” is the title of the series adaptation of the manga series “Wildman War.” The series continues Pickle’s clashes against a range of powerful and familiar opponents, including (of course) Baki himself.

Baki Hanma Season 2 Cast

“Baki Hanma” and “Baki” are both produced by the same production company, TMS Entertainment, and the majority of the cast in “Baki Hanma” is the same as that of Netflix’s previous “Baki” series, which was released in 2015.

Nobunaga Shimazaki will most likely reprise his role as Baki, with Hochu Otsuka as Biscuit Oliva, Akio Otsuka portraying Yuujiro Hanma, and others joining the cast of “Baki Hanma.”

While Netflix does give casting data for the original Japanese voices in “Baki Hanma,” it does not disclose such information for any of the dubs produced by the company. Although Troy Baker provides the voice of Baki in the English dub, Anime News Network reports that Biscuit Oliva and Yuujiro Hanma are dubbed by James Mathis III and Kirk Thorton in the original Japanese adaptation.

That this is the case is not surprising given that the cast of “Baki Hanma” and the previous “Baki” series has been very consistent, including in the English dub. When Season 2 of “Baki Hanma” premieres, you can almost certainly expect to hear these characters’ voices once again.

When will Baki Hanma Season 2 be Released?

So yet, there has been no announcement of a second season of “Baki Hanma” on Netflix. Having said that, the fact that Season 1 finishes on a cliffhanger, setting the stage for the next chapter of the manga’s tale, suggests that the streaming giant wants to invest in a second season — though it is not the first time a show that finished on a cliffhanger was canceled by Netflix.

The overall success of the “Baki” franchise on its platform, however, suggests that the show may return in some form shortly. Netflix’s original “Baki” series lasted for three seasons before the debut of “Baki Hanma,” and it’s unlikely that the streaming service would cease capitalizing on its success now that “Baki Hanma” has arrived.

Season 2 of “Baki Hanma” will premiere sometime in the future, although no specific date has been set. Season 2 of Naruto is expected to premiere sometime in 2022, as is the case with most seasonal shows. However, the world of anime is not immune to delay.

After all, it takes a very long time to create animated shows, and if something goes wrong, fans may be forced to wait even longer than they had anticipated. Even yet, it’s difficult to conceive that “Baki Hanma” will be on sabbatical for an extended period. While waiting for it to happen, fans should endeavor to have a positive attitude about the future of “Baki.”
