Barry Season 4: Will Barry Season 4 Be the Final Season?

Barry has only just begun. HBO has announced that the fourth and final season of the dark comedy/drama will begin production soon. The third season of the show ended in June with “starting now,” an emotional roller coaster in which Barry was outdone by Mr. Cousineau (Henry Winkler) and the late Detective Moss’s father (Robert Wisdom). After finally being apprehended for his crimes, Barry (Bill Hader) was carted away to prison in the finale. Henry Winkler revealed last week at the Primetime Emmy Awards that the series’ fourth season will be its final.

The fourth season is now confirmed to be in the works. HBO shared a photo of series co-creator Bill Hader and Winkler on stage, with the former directing the latter. “The show must go on,” the caption read. Season 4 of #Barry is currently in the works. I’m only getting started. #HBO50”.

Barry Season Four Plot

Even though Barry is facing some justice for some of the crimes he has committed, Hader believes there is plenty of story to tell here. Barry season 4 could go anywhere because the star isn’t afraid to take the show in new and dark directions.

The star is keeping mum about what will happen when season four arrives, but he was “surprised” when it was suggested that season three could be the final season.

Barry Season 4

“There are concerns about Sally, Cousineau, and Hank.” “We’ve just gotten deeper into them and what they’re going through, and I want to see how they handle it,” Hader said in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.

In terms of those other characters, Hader has made it clear that the murder virus is spreading throughout the world of his show. Barry’s sometimes-partner Sally (Sarah Goldberg) and Chechen mafia man NoHo Hank (Anthony Carrigan) have been diagnosed with “Barry’s disease,” as Hader described it in an interview with The Wrap. They’re killing people now, and people who kill aren’t usually happy people.

On that note, Hader addressed the criticism that the show had become too bleak and had lost any semblance of the comedy it was originally marketed as.

“I’m just like, is it as bleak as the news?” he told The Wrap. Not at all. Is this a reaction to the news? Yeah. Is it, hopefully, a reflection of human nature and how people have treated one another since the beginning of time? Maybe. I’m not sure. However, that is how I feel.”

Barry Season Four Release Date

We don’t know when Barry season 4 will be released, but HBO representatives stated in July 2022 that the show will premiere in time for the 2023 Emmys. That means it will most likely air before May 2023.

The first two seasons aired in March 2018 and March 2019, respectively, with the third season not premiering until April 2022.

Given that Hader began writing for Barry season four before the third season even began filming, it appears likely that Spring 2023 will be the natural home for Barry season four.

The show will return to HBO Max in the United States, while previous seasons have aired on Sky and NOW in the United Kingdom in tandem with the American release.

Will Barry Season 4 Be the Final Season?

Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but Henry Winkler appears to believe it is a possibility. “Bill [Hader] and Alec [Berg] never try to outdo each other… When asked about the possibility of Barry wrapping, Winkler told Variety, “They don’t want to push it.” Don’t worry, there hasn’t been any word from Hader or Berg on this yet.
