10. Extraction

Extraction

  • Director: Sam Hargrave
  • Writer: Joe Russo
  • Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, and David Harbour
  • Run Time: 1 hr 56 min

In the Netflix original film Extraction, Sam Hargrave’s history as a stunt coordinator for films like Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame makes the action in the film even more amazing. EXTRACTION is an action film written and directed by Joe Russo, who also co-wrote Endgame. It portrays a disillusioned mercenary who is sent to Dhaka, Bangladesh, to rescue an orphaned boy from kidnappers.

It is on this journey that he falls in love with the youngster and takes on the role of his guardian. The action is out of control in this one, and Chris Hemsworth does a great job as the hero while Hargrave does some very cool things with the camera. Extraction is a blood-pumping, grittier, and more visually interesting game than others.

9. Mission: Impossible

Mission Impossible

  • Director: Brian De Palma
  • Writer: David Koepp and Steven Zallian
  • Cast: Tom Cruise, Jon Voight, Ving Rhames, Emmanuelle Béart, Henry Czerny, Vanessa Redgrave
  • Run Time: 1 hr 50 min

In the beginning, the Mission: Impossible franchise was a showcase for each filmmaker’s own vision. Director Brian De Palma made a noir thriller out of a well-known spy series. The first Mission: Impossible is just as thrilling as the sequels, even if it doesn’t have the same level of stunt work.

It’s a terrific introduction, yet it’s not overly gloomy, thanks to De Palma. Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise character )’s arc is shaped by the grief he experiences after losing his squad. In this performance, Cruise is at the height of his powers.

8. 6 Underground

6 Underground

  • Director: Michael Bay
  • Writer: Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese
  • Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Mélanie Laurent, Corey Hawkins, Adria Arjona, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Ben Hardy
  • Run Time: 2 hr 8 min

Michael Bay’s 6 Underground is his most irrational picture to date. In the grand scheme of things, that’s a big deal. Nobody thought Bay could go any further than he did in Transformers and Bad Boys. Netflix, it appears, did. Incomprehensible, but no one pays attention to a Bay picture because of the plot.

6 Underground is the ultimate “Bayhem” package. There are some crazy one-liners for Ryan Reynolds to deliver in Deadpool, thanks to screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.

7. Red Notice

Red notice

With the help of a fizzy drink, Netflix’s Red Notice shows that one of the world’s most valuable artifacts is a brilliant fake. Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot all stick like fingerprints to character type in Rawson Marshall Thurber’s comedy-thriller, which is exactly what it appears to be: a star-studded and undemanding caper.

To begin, we meet Reynolds’ Nolan Booth, an accomplished art thief, as he is being hunted by Johnson’s FBI profiler John Hartley. After a series of twists and turns, including Johnson’s incarceration and comments about Gadot’s physique, Booth and Hartley must band together to defeat the super thief Bishop (Gadot).

Whether or not these neophytes will be able to make their moves before the Bishop declares checkmate remains to be seen.

6. Army of Thieves

Army of Thieves

Army of Thieves, a zombie heist film set six years before Army of the Dead features Matthias Schweighöfer, who also directs the movie. Ludwig is just beginning his safecracking career when he is hired by a mysterious woman to pull out a heist with a group of want-to-be robbers in the early days of the zombie pandemic.

In addition to Game of Thrones actress Nathalie Emmanuel and British comedian Guz Khan, Zack Snyder serves as an executive producer. Fans of Army of the Dead will enjoy this action-comedy that is a mix of Fast and Furious and Fast & Furious 2.

5. Ava

Ava

  • Director: Tate Taylor
  • Writer: Matthew Newton
  • Cast: Jessica Chastain, John Malkovich, Common, Geena Davis, Colin Farrel, Diana Silvers
  • Run Time: 1 hr 36 min

With Jessica Chastain as a former soldier turned assassin Ava, Ava follows Duke (John Malkovich) as he assigns her assignments and seeks to get back in touch with her family. In spite of Ava’s near-retirement, some in the agency don’t want to let her go without saying goodbye first.

Apart from the burdens of dealing with her past and hiding the true nature of her work from everyone, Ava now finds herself the subject of a manhunt led by some of her former coworkers. Chastain excels in this part, presenting Ava in all her complexities as a fierce assassin as well as a loving sister and daughter.

It’s exciting to see a powerful female agent join the ranks of iconic male assassins and spies like John Wick, Jason Bourne, and James Bond.

4. The Old Guard

The Old Guard

  • Director: Gina Prince-Bythewood
  • Writer: Greg Rucka
  • Cast: Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Harry Melling, Veronica Ngo, Matthias Schoenaerts, Chiwetel Ejiofor
  • Run Time: 2 hr 5 min

As one of today’s top action performers, Charlize Theron has appeared in films like Mad Max: Fury Road and Atomic Blonde, where she has shown off her impressive physical prowess and given audiences chilling looks. In Netflix’s The Old Guard, Charlize Theron plays an ancient commander of an eternal band of assassins in a gripping comic book adaption.

In her first big blockbuster action role, Gina Prince-Bythewood, director of Love & Basketball and Beyond the Lights, takes the reins of The Old Guard, a film that not only features some of the genre’s most exciting action sequences and kinetic fight scenes but also acknowledges that taking a life has a cost.

In a nutshell, it has a humanity and empathy that enhances the adrenaline-pumping thrills without detracting from your enjoyment of the film. As for Theron herself, I have to agree that she has some serious ass-kicking skills. It’s a difficult task, but Bythewood accomplishes it, and she even adds a dash of romance to the proceedings.

3. The Night Comes for Us

The Night Comes for Us

  • Writer/Director: Timo Tjahjanto
  • Cast: Joe Taslim, Iko Uwais, Julie Estelle, Zack Lee, Sunny Pang, Hannah Al Rashid
  • Run Time: 2 hr 1 min

Despite the fact that you may think you know all there is to know about the art of the splatter fight scene, The Night Comes for Us has something to teach you.

This Netflix action film, directed by Timo Tjhajanto, is jam-packed with gory, deadly combat. Tjahjanto’s best feature film to date, The Night Comes for Us is a relentless display of violence and carnage, centered on the story of a criminal turned war criminal yearning for a little forgiveness.

Iko Uwais, who plays a supporting part but still gets to fight in some of the best battle scenes, is one of the many familiar faces in the cast, especially for fans of The Raid flicks. And if you’re searching for a solid action movie with plenty of battle scenes, this one has much to offer, staging furious, never-ending conflict. This will get a lot of attention because of the shared cast with The Raid, but damn if it isn’t good on its own.

2. Avengement

Avengement

  • Director: Jesse V. Johnson
  • Writers: Jesse V. Johnson and Stu Small
  • Cast: Scott Adkins, Craig Fairbrass, Thomas Turgoose, Nick Moran, Kiersten Wareing
  • Run Time: 1 hr 28 min

As far as I’m concerned, Scott Adkins is the star here. It doesn’t really matter if it’s a bar brawl, a prison brawl, or anything else. Avengement, the newest collaboration between DTV action champion Adkins and his Savage Dog and Accident Man director Jesse V. Johnson, sounds good to you.

With a lot more roundhouse kicks, Adkins and Johnson are clearly riffing on the Guy Ritchie/Matthew Vaughn brand of British criminal movies. Cain Burgess (Adkins), a newly released convict, visits a local pub and takes the individuals responsible for his harrowing prison term to account for their actions, bouncing back and forth between flashbacks as he holds them at gunpoint.

As a stuntman, Adkins has access to a wide range of sequences, montages, and set pieces that allow him to show off his abilities in the best possible light. It’s a must-see if you’re a lover of DTV action films, with some truly shocking violence.

1. Beyond Skyline

Beyond Skyline

  • Writer/Director: Liam O’Donnell
  • Cast: Frank Grillo, Jonny Weston, Bojana Novakovic, Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian, Antonio Fargas, Lindsey Morgan, Betty Gabriel
  • Run Time: 1 hr 46 min

An experience Beyond Skyline is truly mind-boggling. A sci-fi flick like Skyline, which received a lot of negative attention, was a complete surprise to me, much less than the sequel would turn out to be an action-packed, globe-trotting thrill ride. Beyond Skyline stars Frank Grillo as a cop at odds with his son (Jonny Weston) after an alien attack sends them fleeing for their lives in a proud, pulpy B-movie.

Aliens arrive on the scene and the movie moves at breakneck speed, cramming a paperback book series’ worth of science fiction lunacy into a single feature film. The action takes place in underground tunnels, a nuclear wasteland in Los Angeles, an alien ship, and all the way to Laos, where Mark teams up with insurgents to fight the alien menace.

Among the cast members is Frank Grillo, wielding a space-blaster while holding a baby in one hand, Vietnam veteran Antonio Fargas, as well as Iko Uwais and Yaya Ruhain, who take on enormous aliens with aplomb. There is even a genuine Kaiju combat. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re a fan of B-movies, Beyond Skyline hits all the necessary boxes for Liam O’Donnell’s feature debut.

Conclusion

On Netflix, these are the best and most entertaining action films. Even some honorable mentions have been mentioned.
