The following is a list of television movies created for the Hallmark Channel (HC) and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries cable networks (HMM). These movies are currently referred to as Hallmark Movies and Mysteries and Hallmark Channel Original Movies.
The Hallmark Channel debuted in August 2001, and its sibling channel Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, which was formerly known as Hallmark Movie Channel, debuted in January 2004. Both channels also broadcast several original film series, including Garage Sale Mystery, Jesse Stone, Signed, Sealed, Delivered, the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries, and The Good Witch. They also created wheel series with a mystery theme.
The 2014 original film Christmas Under Wraps, starring Candace Cameron Bure, brought The Hallmark Channel its highest-ever broadcast premiere ratings with 5.8 million viewers.
With a series of holiday-themed original films airing from late October to late December, both networks experience their peak ratings during the “Countdown to Christmas” period.
The vast majority of Hallmark Channel movies are shot in Canada, so they are eligible for Canadian content quotas. Some of these movies are also broadcast in Canada by the W Network and Citytv thanks to content distribution agreements with Hallmark parent Crown Media. Hallmark Original Movies are broadcast on Movies 24, a sister channel, in the UK.
About The Movie: Christmas Village Hallmark Movie
Chloe’s mother Summer (Sweeney), an architect who lives in a small town with her daughter, is raising her there (Dying for Chocolate: A Curious Caterer Mystery, Maesa Nicholson). Her orderly life becomes a little less orderly after inviting her mother Vivian (Thomas) to move in with them during this transition when Vivian finds herself in need of a place to live. Vivian welcomes Chloe and tells her that she has set up an antique, miniature Christmas village that looks like their town and grants Christmas wishes.
Real-life incidents seem to mirror the scenes Chloe sets up as she starts arranging the figurines, such as Summer’s chance encounter with Ryan (Macfarlane), a newcomer to their neighbourhood. The two discover they have a lot in common right away, and as they begin to spend more time together, Ryan gradually teaches Summer how to open her heart to love once more. As the holiday draws near, living together gives Summer and Vivian the opportunity to patch things up, and maybe with a little assistance from the magic of the Christmas village, the family will come closer together.
Lighthouse Pictures Inc. is the producer of “A Magical Christmas Village.” Sweeney, Craig Baumgarten, Shawn Williamson, Jamie Goehring, and Melissa Salmons are the executive producers. As producer, Kevin Leslie is employed. Salmons wrote the script, which Jason Furukawa directed.
