Death Note Season 2 : Release Date, Cast And More!
Whether you’re an anime enthusiast or not, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of the anime series “Death Note.” And if you’re a die-hard anime lover, it’s probably one of your top three favourites! If you don’t mind calling me an otaku. That is not Hebrew at all! Otaku is a Japanese phrase that refers to persons who are obsessed with anime!
Death Note, written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, is widely considered as a masterpiece and the most popular manga and anime series of all time.
After airing from October 2006 to June 2007, the anime celebrated its 15th anniversary by being renewed for a second season. The anime has a large following, and many of them have binge-watched the entire first season, which has 37 episodes, over and over again.
Fans, on the other hand, are still holding out hope for a second season of the anime. Is there going to be a second episode in the series? What should I expect? Here are the specifics on Death Note Season 2: The Final Chapter.
Release Date Of Death Note Season 2
As successful as “Death Note” is as a property, it appears that its life as an anime series may be coming to an end – at least for the time being. As many anime fans are surely aware, series can be renewed for new seasons years after they were first broadcasted, so you never know what will happen.
14 years have passed since the first episode of the original anime series was broadcasted, and there has been no further word from the animation studio Madhouse on the approval of a second season, but the series has not been terminated either.
A new season would have to draw inspiration from a completely other source, most likely with an entirely new storyline and primary characters because Season 1 of “Death Note” covers the majority of the plotline of the manga series.
“Death Note” first aired on Adult Swim in the United States in 2017 and is presently accessible to watch on a variety of streaming platforms worldwide. The anime’s status has remained unknown for more than a decade, despite the presence of all of these forces at play.
At this point, it’s hard to predict whether or not there will be any additional episodes of “Death Note” in the future. But the storyline of the first season cannot be continued because it has already come to an end with the death of the protagonist, and the majority of its essential characters have also passed away as a result of the events of Season 1.
“Death Note” has produced a slew of ancillary media, ranging from a light novel to a musical to live-action TV and film adaptations, including a lukewarm Netflix rendition. The manga’s anime adaptation initially aired in 2006, and although only having one season, the show manages to cover the primary plot of the comic series.
Fans, though, continue to beg for more. In fact, Viz Media released “Death Note: The a-Kira Story,” a manga set in the series’ setting, in early 2020.

What Might Be The Cast Of Death Note 2?
The immortal Ryuk, who was originally voiced by Shidô Nakamura in the original Japanese language version of the anime and Brian Drummond in the English dub, would be the most likely returnee, as would be the other main characters (per IMDb).
Near, who was voiced by Noriko Hidaka in the original version and Cathy Weseluck in the dubbed version, as well as Mello, who was voiced by Nozomu Sasaki in the original version and David Robert Moore in the English dub, are still alive and well in the franchise.
A sequel anime could have a whole different cast of characters, or it could centre on any of the characters who survived the first season. At least one prequel manga and one sequel manga have already done so — “Death Note: Another Note – The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases” is narrated by Mello, while “Death Note: The a-Kira Story” is heavily based on Ryuk and Near — and it is likely that more will follow.
What Would Be The Plot Of Season 2 ?
With both of the first season’s protagonists no longer alive, the programme would have to adapt one of several prequel or sequel mangas, or be an altogether new plot. Aside from “Death Note: The a-Kira Story,” which takes place 10 years after the events of the original “Death Note,” and “The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases,” there is also “Chapter 109” (also known as “The C-Kira Story”) and the “L File No. 15” book.
“The a-Kira Story” is the most narratively rich vein to mine.
During the manga, a student called Minoru Tanaka obtains the Death Note and decides to sell it to the highest bidder. Ryuk attempts to halt the sale of the Death Note, and the globe descends into anarchy as American and Chinese authorities clash over the notebook.
Conclusion
As we’ve already noted, Season 1 was quite conclusive on its own. Light Yagami fell against his arch-rival Ryuk in the Season finale. Although it appears like he dies after that, you never know with the show’s colourful history of twists and turns!
And even if Light does return, how will it do so? Considering Ryuk wrote his name in the Death Note notebook!
