Manchester was the location for the series’ February 2022 filming. On September 7, 2022, a cast for the fourth season was made public on social media. Dakota Schiffer, the first openly transgender candidate to compete on the British edition of the show, was also a member of the cast.

On October 27, 2021, casting for the fourth series of the show was made public via the show’s official Instagram page. The deadline for applications was November 10, 2021, after which they were closed. During an appearance on RuPaul’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, Hannah Waddingham revealed she was the show’s first celebrity guest judge.
Following RuPaul’s Drag Race: the UK vs. the World earlier this year, the fourth series will be the first regular installment of the program to air on BBC Three; the decision to revive the former-defunct television network is attributed to the show’s popularity. A ten-second teaser with the slogan “Bring it to the RUNW4Y” was broadcast by the BBC on August 30, 2022, to promote the start of the series. The following day, the BBC announced the roster of celebrity guest judges.

The fourth series’ competitors were “some of the best queens we’ve ever seen,” judge Graham Norton said in an interview with Gay Times. The queens had a lot more leeway in the series because it was a post-COVID-19 season, according to Norton and that, “because they weren’t generating any money and many of the dressmakers had quit working, it was really difficult for the [season three] queens in COVID. I believe COVID was incredibly difficult, thus this is undoubtedly a terrific post-COVID season. You can anticipate it.
You shouldn’t be concerned! The second season of the program is being shot in Granada Studios in Manchester, England. It was discovered that producers had hired “Big Steve,” a former bodyguard for The Jeremy Kyle Show, to work on the program. The BBC said on September 1, 2022, that the show would debut on September 22, 2022, to coincide with the end of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under’s second season and the third season of Canada’s Drag Race. Weekly episodes air on Thursdays at 9 p.m.
