Firefly Lane Season 2: When It Will Be Released?
The show is based on the novel of the same name by Kristin Hannah. She also serves as the executive producer of the show. Hannah’s previous works, The Nightingale and The Great Alone are adapted for the big screen by TriStar Pictures. Famed Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul director and producer Michelle MacLaren are heading The Nightingale project.
Firefly Lane Season 2 Release Date
Season 1 of the show premiered on February 3, 2021. Three months later, Netflix announced through social media channels that Firefly Lane had been renewed for a second season.
Netflix takes its time with drama series but not more than a year after the announcement. I presume Firefly Lane season 2 will be around spring 2023.
Firefly Lane Season 2 Cast
- Katherine Heigl as Tully Hart, a famous host of a daytime talk show known as The Girlfriend Hour. She is an American actress, producer, and former fashion model. She is best known for the ABC television drama Grey’s Anatomy for playing the role of Dr. Izzie Stevens. She starred in commercially successful romantic comedy films such as Knocked Up, 27 Dresses, The Ugly Truth, Killers, Life As We Know It, and New Year’s Eve.
- Sarah Chalke as Kate Mularkey, Tully’s best friend since they were 14 years old and a housewife trying to get back in the workforce while going through a divorce.
- Ben Lawson as Johnny Ryan, Kate’s husband and the producer of The Girlfriend Hour
- Beau Garrett as Cloud, Tully’s free-spirited drug-addicted single mother
On September 21, Netflix announced the addition of four new characters, played by some of our favorite actors. They are, per a press release:
“India de Beaufort as Charlotte: As we meet Charlotte in 1985 Seattle, she’s a quiet and reserved aspiring journalist with a hopeless crush on Johnny Ryan (Ben Lawson). But over the years, she grows into a world-renowned, confident, and sophisticated reporter—a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it.
“Greg Germann as Benedict Binswanger: The scion of an influential logging family, Benedict parlays his success in business into a run for governor of Washington State in the 1980s. His outward confidence belies a deep concern for his and his family’s reputations—and he is determined to preserve the Binswanger legacy by ensuring a long-held secret stays buried.
“Jolene Purdy as Justine Jordan: Justine is a sunny, upbeat talent agent with a knack for keeping a positive demeanor even when delivering devastating news. She’s always got a plan and is ready to execute it—an up-and-coming power player in the world of entertainment. Justine Jordan is no-nonsense but always charming, the kind of person everyone wants in their corner—including Tully Hart.
“Ignacio Serricchio as Danny Diaz: Danny is a cocky sportscaster turned reporter who has crackling chemistry with Tully. He’s bold, ambitious, and sexy. Danny and Tully continually trade barbs, but beneath his smug façade lies real vulnerability and passion.
What Happened to Firefly Lane’s Second Season?
Katherine Heigl, who plays Firefly Lane’s main character, said on social media that the show’s second season would start filming in August 2021 in Vancouver, Canada. It’s been said that filming will continue until April 2022, but Heigl hasn’t confirmed that.
Who Be Will in Season 2 of Firefly Lane?
There were rumors that some of Heigel’s Grey’s Anatomy co-stars would be in the show. Deadline says that Greg Germann, who was in the medical drama for four seasons, will play Benedict Binswanger, the governor of Washington State, in the 1980s. This means that he must be in a KPOC story!
Ignacio Serricchio will play sports writer Danny Diaz, who likes Tully. India de Beaufort of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will play an up-and-coming journalist who wants Johnny, and Jolene Purdy of The White Lotus will play a talent agent who is on Tully’s radar.
Before the start of the new season, listen to music by Nikki and the Corvettes, Dexys Midnight Runners, Elton John, Eva Cassidy, and others. This will keep you excited. Also, get the popular Kristin Hannah book that gave rise to the series. It will be a great book to read on the beach this summer.
What Can We Look Forward to in the Second Season of Firefly Lane?
Spoilers are coming up! Don’t read on if you haven’t seen all of season 1!
At the end of the first season, we have two very different ideas about how Tully and Kate feel about each other. Tully and Kate meet up by the fire pit after Tully quits her show. Tully promises to help Kate find a job when she gets a job again. The movie then jumps to a time when Kate and Tully meet again at a funeral, where Kate says she doesn’t want to see Tully again.
Indeed, season 2 will explain what happened to break Tully and Kate’s relationship so badly. Since this is a show about friendship, it’s impossible to think that these two won’t get along in the end.
Even though the fight happens at a funeral, no one knows whose funeral it is. Since Tully came to pay her respects, it’s clear that a close friend or family member of Kate’s has died. Johnny, Kate’s ex-husband who went to Iraq, and Kate’s old father are both excellent candidates. Any way you look at it, a possible second season would focus on how this affects Kate and Marah, who is now a teenager.
We think the second season will also show what happens with Tully’s career, like if she ever gives that job to Kate.
Since Firefly Lane is based on a well-known story, it’s not hard to figure out what happens next to Tully and Kate.
