Joan Vassos Discusses Participating in The Golden Bachelorette Following the Loss of Her Husband

Joan Vassos wasn’t always sure it was a smart idea to join The Golden Bachelorette, despite the fact it was an amazing experience. She believed she would never consider dating again after her long marriage to John, who died at the age of 59.

“Everyone believed you ought to be prepared after a year. And that was nowhere near it,” she admitted.

“That year, I kind of glided through it. To be honest, I don’t remember much of it. When year two arrives, I should be ready by now, I tell myself, but my heart wasn’t. I thought, ‘I’m not getting any younger, I’m not getting prettier, I’m not getting more attractive,’ so I wanted to be.”

She chose to attempt dating because she felt a little hurried, and although it wasn’t an awful experience, she didn’t discover a “good match.” Going out there, nevertheless, “did show me that I really did want to find somebody.”

She made the right decision in joining The Golden Bachelorette, but she isn’t in a desperate search for love.

“I want to avoid jumping into anything. I’m not required to! “I’m not concerned about my biological clock anymore,” she jokingly said. “My life is complete. Determining how to combine lives takes time. It’s worthwhile if you have the affection.”
