Ncis Los Angeles Season 20: When It Will Be Renewed?
T.V. shows can’t go on and on. The longer a show has been on, the more likely it is to get close to the end of its run. Take the NCIS show as an example. One of its spinoffs, New Orleans, will end in 2021. NCIS is starting its 20th season, and Los Angeles is beginning its 14th. Both could end in 2023.
“NCIS has always been around, and always will be,” says T.V. Insider’s interview with executive producer Steven D. Binder. “A few years ago, we hired a great writer named Marco Schnabel, and he asked me, “When are we going to get our pickup?” I asked him half-jokingly and half-seriously, “What do you mean by the pickup?”
“That’s how we feel, too. That might not be true, but after 20 years, it’s hard to think that this is the year it will end. So, if people keep watching, we’ll keep making the show, and people keep watching.”
He knows that, like all shows, NCIS‘ ratings drop every year (and this year, the show moved to Monday nights), but what he finds “mind-boggling” is that “it’s been 13 seasons we’ve been on top, and I don’t know that even I’ll understand what that means or how special this is or how rare this is or how lucky we all are until it’s over or I’ve left because I think I’ll leave and the show will keep going.” I don’t think this show will ever end. I think the show will continue as long as we tell good stories.”
NCIS Season 20 Air Date: When Will It Be Back
Season 19 is on CBS in the U.S., and it will continue until spring. CBS hasn’t said anything about season 20, but since it’s such a popular show, we’d be shocked if it didn’t get renewed for at least another year.
If NCIS returns for a 20th season, it will likely start airing in September 2022.
In the meantime, U.K. fans of the show will be happy to hear that NCIS will soon have a new home. Starting in early 2022, all the old episodes and the most recent season will be available to stream on Disney+ Star.

NCIS Season 20 Cast: Who’s in It
As Special Agent Gibbs, Mark Harmon has been in charge of NCIS since its first season. His character moved to Alaska at the start of season 19 in the episode “Great Wide Open.” He might not be the last person we see, though.
In October, Harmon left the show on-screen, and showrunner Steve Binder said, “Mark is still an essential part of the show because he is an executive producer and a close friend.
Staying true to our characters has always been our north star, and that truth has always guided the stories we tell and where our characters go. So, about the future of Gibbs, longtime fans of the show may have noticed over the years that Leroy Jethro Gibbs should never be counted out.”
Gary Cole, who used to be on The
Wife and Veep are now an NCIS Supervisory Special Agent named Alden Parker, who takes over as team leader from Gibbs. Cole first showed up in episode 2 of season 19, and if season 20 happens, he will probably be back.
- Timothy McGee (Sean Murray)
- Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll)
- Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama)
- Dr. Donald Mallard (David McCallum)
- Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen)
- Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover)
- Jess Knight (Katrina Law)
NCIS Season 20 Episodes
Each season of NCIS usually has at least 20 episodes, except for season 18, which was shorter because it was shot during the pandemic. Season 20 is likely to have about the same number of attacks.
NCIS Season 20 Spoilers
Before season 19 ends in the spring of 2022, it’s hard to say what might happen in season 20. For example, season 18 ended with Gibbs almost dying in a boat explosion and a serial killer on the loose.
But it’s safe to say that in season 20, we’ll learn more about Alden Parker, the recruit who has taken over Gibbs’s role as the leader.
Gary Cole talked about his character in a season 19 interview with T.V. Insider “Parker doesn’t talk too much, but he does say more. He’s not as old-fashioned as you might think; he tries to get his hands on new tech gadgets to show everyone how cool he is. He wants to be like the other people on the team. Even though he might not say it, he likes how Gibbs breaks the rules. Parker makes them curve. We’ll see if it gets to a point where it will break.”
