Outlander Season 6: When It Will Be Renewed?

Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, and the rest of Outlander’s cast and producers have promised fans that Season 6 will be great and worth the wait. The Starz show finally came back on Sunday, March 6.

Any fan of Outlander knows that making Season 6 has been anything but easy. In March 2021, Heughan, who plays Jamie, told the U.K.’s Daily Record, “We started in January, and it’s going well. COVID protocols have made things hard, but Scotland’s weather has also been awful. Even though there has been a lot of snow, it finally feels like spring. Just around the corner is hope!”

Because of the problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic while the new season was being filmed in 2020, Outlander Season 6 was cut down to eight episodes and started on March 6, 2022. But it looks like the quality will make up for what it lacks in quantity. In November 2021, Outlander author Diana Gabaldon said about the next season, “This is the first season where I have not had a single episode that I liked less… The season is perfect all the way through.”

Matthew B. Roberts, who runs the Outlander T.V. show, said, “We’re excited to get into the editing room and work on getting the fans one step closer to seeing the family back on Fraser’s Ridge. Filming in 2021 has given us problems we’ve never seen before, so we’ve decided to cut the season short so fans can see the most exciting and interesting season as soon as possible. As soon as things get back to normal, we’ll film a 16-episode season seven extension next year.”

The new season starts where Season 5 left off, with the Frasers and the MacKenzies still trying to get over their tragedies and losses. But they are all together as a family, making them vital for what’s to come.

Jamie Heughan, Caitriona Balfe as Claire, Sophie Skelton as Brianna Randall MacKenzie, and Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie will all be back.

Yes, and as Season 6 got closer, the show’s cast and crew started sharing more of them every day.

Heughan told Men’s Health, for example, on March 1, “Jamie’s past comes back to haunt him in the form of Tom Christie, an old enemy. He was also Jamie’s close friend in prison years ago. Now, he and his family have moved to Fraser’s Ridge, which signifies that the Frasers’ power is starting to fall.” Heughan added, “The Frasers are now well-off. It’s getting bigger.

Jamie and Claire, his wife, look like they could be chiefs. They’re good landowners, but with the arrival of this new family, people’s support and loyalty to the Frasers are starting to fade. This sign that things are about to change in Fraser’s Ridge.”

Heughan recently told Radio Times that Jamie and his wife Claire will spend more one-on-one time on screen than they may have ever had before. “We do spend more time with them in some way. There are some beautiful scenes where Jamie and Claire are just with each other, “he said.

On January 22, Starz sat down with Heughan and said the same about his Outlander character: “Jamie’s past almost comes back to haunt him, or catches up with him. We meet some people who keep showing up in Jamie’s life. Some of them are good, but others are more unsettling.

He added, “This season has been all about the buildup to this War of Independence, this revolution, and Jamie Fraser has been a big part of that. He has been on the British side. He knows that they are going to lose. As we get closer to that point, the stakes get higher. There’s also a revolution going on at Fraser’s Ridge.”

Season 7 Will Consist of Sixteen Episodes

Because of the pandemic, the sixth season of Outlander had to be cut short. But fans don’t need to worry. Starz just announced that season seven of “Outlander” will have sixteen episodes instead of the usual ten.

In a statement, Outlander’s showrunner Matthew B. Roberts said, “We’re excited to get into the editing room and work on getting the fans one step closer to seeing the family back on Fraser’s Ridge.” “Filming in 2021 has presented a set of problems that have never been seen before. Because of this, we’ve decided to shorten the season so that fans can see the most exciting and interesting season as soon as possible. As soon as things get back to normal, we’ll film a 16-episode season seven extension next year.”

There have been rumors that this season could be the last one, but nothing has been confirmed. Diana Gabaldon wrote on Twitter about the words: “My advice is to ignore stupid click-bait on the Internet. Season 7 _might_ be the last, but it very well might not be. No one is aware of that. But people keep asking, so they get non-answers like “Maybe” and add silly headlines.”
