Who Are the Cast Members and Characters in Shadow and Bone Season 2?
Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), an orphaned mapmaker, finds out that she is a powerful Grisha. As the Sun Summoner, she is the only one who can break down the Shadow Fold, which divides the country of Ravka. Mal Malyen “Mal” Oretsev (Archie Renaux), who grew up with Alina and is also an orphan, is her best friend and a possible love interest.
They are fighting against General Kirigan (Barnes), the powerful leader of the Second Army. He is also known as the Darkling, a Shadow Summoner who made the Shadow Fold.
Baghra (Zo Wanamaker) teaches young Grisha to be like Nina Zenik (Danielle Galligan), a Heartrender who was captured by Matthias Helvar (Calahan Skogman) and his team of Fjerdan hunters called Drüskelle.
“Bastard of the Barrel” Kaz Brekker (Freddy Carter) is the leader of the Crow Club in Kerch. Inej Ghafa (Amita Suman) and Jesper Fahey (who likes to have fun) are both members of the club (Kit Young).
There are also new characters in Season 2. Nikolai Lantsov, aka Sturmhond, a fan-favorite character from Leigh Bardugo’s book series, is played by Patrick Gibson. Tamar Kir-Bataar and Tolya Yul-Bataar, twin Heartrenders, and Wylan, a new Crow Club member, are also introduced (Jack Wolfe).
What Will Happen in the Second Season?
Some people see Alina as a sign of hope, while others think she is a traitor. Either way, she is determined to bring down the Shadow Fold and save Ravka from destruction. But this time, General Kirigan is backed by a new army of scary shadow monsters and Grisha who look like they can’t be hurt.
Even a few scars from battle can’t stop this Darkling from being angry. To have a chance against him, Alina and Mal must find powerful new allies and set out on a journey that will take them across an entire continent to find two mythical creatures that will boost Alina’s powers.
“The best thing about Season 2 is that we get to move these characters’ stories forward after leaving them in a dangerous place at the end of Season 1. Eric Heisserer, co-showrunner and executive producer, tells Tudum, “This season has a lot of potential for them.”
“They have to deal with the results of their actions, and along the way, they get to meet new people. In this season, both the mythology and the cast of the Grishaverse grow.
Heisserer says that viewers will go to new places like Novyi Zem and Shu Han.
Daegan Fryklind, co-showrunner and executive producer, adds, “We’ve also really dug into more of the mythology this season, both in terms of the amplifiers and their creator, Morozova—who he was, what his backstory is, and how he fits into this world.”
