Slumberland Release Date: What is Little Nemo Slumberland’s Age?

The children’s fantasy tale Slumberland is the most recent addition to the 2022 Netflix originals release schedule. In November, this live-action adaptation of Winsor McKay’s 1905 comic strip Little Nemo In Slumberland will premiere on Netflix.

The first feature-length adaptation of the original comics was the 1989 release of the Japanese animated film Little Nemo: Adventures In Slumberland. Initially, Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) was supposed to direct Slumberland in early 2020. Lawrence is currently filming The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a prequel film, in addition to directing The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.

Forward Nemo (Marlow Barkley) and her eccentric friend turn over (Jason Momoa) embark on a once-in-a-lifetime trip in Slumberland.

During the day, Nemo’s new school and practise are challenging, but at night, a secret map to the film The Amazing World of Slumberland connects her to Flip, a tough but lovable criminal who has lately become her sidekick and guide. Nemo begins to hope for a reunion with her father as she and turnabout embark on a risky journey that involves crossing dreams and escaping nightmares.

Marlow Barkley will make her debut in a feature film as Nema. She is well-known for her performance as Sophie Cooper in Single Parents and her voice work in the Disney animated series Amphibia. She is also engaged in several upcoming projects, including Spirited, a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’s classic novel A Christmas Carol that will premiere on Apple TV+ in 2022.

Flip, who was originally portrayed by Mickey Rooney in the 1989 adaptation, will be portrayed by Jason Momoa. In the popular HBO series Game of Thrones, Momoa portrayed Khal Drogo, the leader of the Dothraki.

Luxton Handspiker (The Handmaid’s Tale) will portray the new character named Matt. Alongside Nema and Flip, he is seen at the wheel of a dreamland vehicle in the trailer. Kyle Chandler will play Nema’s father, a figure whose name has not yet been revealed. Bloodline, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Game Night have brought Chandler widespread recognition. Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids), who was most recently seen in the film Kimi, has been cast in an unnamed role alongside India de Beaufort.

Slumberland Release Date

Principal photography concluded in May 2021, and by April 20, 2022, the picture had been in post-production for about 11 months. Given that this is a fantasy film, the lengthy post-production is not surprising. Before the film can be viewed, it must undergo lengthy editing to remove the numerous CGI and other special effects.

We had hoped for a summer release, but Netflix’s choice to postpone the film until the fall, close to the holiday season, is completely rational.

On October 6, 2022, Netflix released the second trailer for Slumberland, giving us our best look yet at the film’s magnificent graphics and the backstory of the film’s protagonist, Nema, as she embarks on a quest with her father’s old friend Flip to find her missing father. Below is the second trailer for the film.

Few cinematic experiences are more taxing than watching a film that signals its eagerness to ingratiate, then spends minute after tedious minute tugging futilely on the viewer’s sleeve. This is the defining trait of “Slumberland,” which is directed with the finesse of a flying mallet by Francis Lawrence, whose filmography includes adult-oriented irritation exercises such as “Water for Elephants.”

The film begins, as is customary in the film industry, in a clean lighthouse on a remarkable guano-free island. Young Nemo (Marlow Barkley, who resembles a younger Saoirse Ronan and is the film’s most engaging character) and her devoted lighthouse-keeper father reside there in idyllic seclusion. However, you know what it’s like when rough seas emerge and dad must embark on a rescue operation. Nemo is soon uprooted and transported to the Big City to reside with her emotionally detached, doorknob-obsessed uncle (Chris O’Dowd).
