The official trailer for Season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls is now available on HBO Max. Frat parties, male strip shows, and plenty of hookups are just some of the activities that the trailer suggests Kimberly, Whitney, Leighton, and Bela will be engaging in during what it calls a “striptacular” season. The girls have just finished their Thanksgiving break and will be heading straight to the sorority Omega Pi’s annual winter party, “Winter Underland.“

Bela, ever ambitious, suggests introducing a male strip show to the university as a “sex-positive, female-forward,” show that is “also a fundraiser for climate change.” We also meet the new, mysterious, and very attractive dorm neighbour who has everyone swooning. The trailer strikes a good balance between comedic lightness and the more serious aspects of college life, as we see Kimberly struggling to make a tuition payment, Whitney navigating a complicated new relationship, and Leighton exploring her sexuality.

Plot

College Girls season 2 will not jump too far into the future. According to EW, co-creator Justin Noble has confirmed that the show will continue to take place during the freshmen year of the show’s core four characters. In addition to satisfying Noble and Kaling’s nostalgia for the colder weather of the Northeast during that time of year, the brief time jump will also allow the show to continue exploring the relationships and plotlines introduced in season one as we last remembered them.

He told the media that “we’re going to be spending a lot of time in something that Mindy and I were really excited to write to and never really got to creatively in season 1,” which is an East Coast winter.

The show’s titular sex lives will be pushed to more risky but realistic places, Kaling confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. She said, “I think all four of the girls are fun, experimenting, and doing lots of fun stuff;” after all, the show is called The Sex Lives of College Girls for a reason. “There’s a lot more heartbreak, a lot more sex, some really funny new characters, and a few new hot guys,” the synopsis reads.

Cast

Many of the series’ regulars, including the leads, will be back, as will some of the show’s funniest recurring characters, such as Lila and Canaan. Unfortunately, earlier this year it was revealed that Gavin Leatherwood, who played Leighton’s brother Nico, would not be returning for Season 2. Leatherwood shared the news of his departure from the show with UsWeekly.

“That was the most incredible thing I’ve ever done. As for the rest of the cast, I think they’re all lovely, and Mindy is fantastic. The world is full of incredible possibilities, and we intend to keep taking advantage of them by launching new initiatives.”

Don’t worry though, because someone new has been cast. Charlie Hall, son of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, is about to arrive. As reported by Deadline, Hall will be joining the SLOCG universe in the role of Andrew, an Essex student.

The second season of The Sex Lives of College Girls will soon be available to stream on HBO Max.

Release Date

New information indicates the show will premiere on HBO Max on November 17, 2022. Production on the new season began earlier this year and apparently wrapped up in the fall. HBO Max, following the pattern of the first season, will immediately release the first two episodes and then air new episodes every Thursday.
