The movie Virgin River on Netflix is like a warm hug: It takes place in a small town, like Gilmore Girls and Friday Night Lights, and has a cast of characters that you won’t forget. It’s the perfect cozy drama to watch on a cold night.
Fans all say: Netflix doesn’t say how many times a show has been watched, but Virgin River is famous enough that Netflix quietly renewed it for a fourth season before season 3 came out on July 9, 2021. The fourth season will come out a year after the third, on July 20, 2022. This summer, the fifth season will be filmed.
It doesn’t come as much of a surprise that Netflix has high hopes for Virgin River’s long-term future. The show is based on the Virgin River book series by Robyn Carr, which has 25 books. Yes, you read that right.
Netflix quickly gave the go-ahead for more episodes for the fourth season, which will have 12 instead of the usual 10. Also, season three went straight to the top of the Netflix charts and had more than 1.4 million viewers in its first week, according to Nielson. By the end of its first month on Netflix, it was the most-streamed content in the country (opens in new tab).
So, what do we know about season four now that it’s almost here? Will Hope, who Annette O’Toole plays, make it? (opens a new window) What’s up with Mel’s child? (opens a new window) Will Charmaine have her twins at last? We’ll finally find out who killed Jack, right? Let’s dig in.
Release Date of Virgin River Season 4
In May, Netflix announced that season 4 of Virgin River would come out on July 20, 2022. The following is what Netflix says about the new season: “Mel is hopeful, even though she doesn’t know if her baby is from her late husband Mark or Jack.
She’s wanted to be a mom for years, and now her dream is one step closer to coming true. Even though Jack is happy and happy for her, the question of who the father is still bothered him “how it says. (A triangle of love? Jack has been through enough, hasn’t he?
Things get worse when a good-looking new doctor shows up who wants to start a family of his own, “the description continues. “Hope is still getting better from her car accident, and the long-term mental effects of her brain injury will significantly impact both her and Doc.
Brie is determined to prove that the man she loves is innocent, but she gets closer to Mike and one step closer to Calvin’s violent web of crime. Even as Preacher makes a new love connection, he can’t help but hope that Christopher and Paige will return to his life.
What Could Happen in Virgin River Season 4
Ahead are spoilers. Many of the characters’ stories ended on cliffhangers at the end of season three of Virgin River, including Preacher, who was poisoned by a former friend of Paige’s to get him out of the way of a plan to kidnap Christopher, and Mel and Jack, who are dealing with the fallout of Mel’s announcement that she’s pregnant, but they don’t know if the father is Jack or her late ex-husband Mark.
Lizzie broke up with Ricky when she found out he was joining the army, and she went back to her slimy ex-boyfriend. Brady was arrested as a suspect in Jack’s shooting after a similar gun was found in his car. Charmaine and Todd threatened Jack with an explosive custody battle over the twins, and Hope is in the hospital with a brain injury after a car accident.
Martin Henderson, who plays Jack, told The Digital Fix that Season 4 reveals and answers all the questions but raises more.
There will be a tonne of new stories in the next season, but the last season set up a few arcs: We’ll see Ricky decide whether or not to join the army, and he might leave Virgin River and Lizzie behind. Mel and Jack will have to deal with the unknowns of her pregnancy and decide if they can stay together.
The actors who play them have made it clear that they will (opens in a new tab), so you don’t have to worry. After being gone for the third season, Paige will likely come back, and hopefully, she’ll be with Christopher. Charmaine will have the twins, and there will probably be a fight between her, Todd, and Jack, the biological father of her children. And since we’re talking about Jack, we’ll find out who shot him.
Hope in ‘virgin River’ Season 4
Annette O’Toole, who plays the town’s mayor, Hope, who was married to Doc Mullins and will be again, was strangely absent from all of season three. COVID-19 filming rules meant Hope couldn’t go to Vancouver to film with the rest of the cast during season three. She did talk to them on video chat, though. But don’t worry, O’Toole and Hope will both be back for Virgin River’s fourth season (phew).
Tenney told EW that Hope would live through the car accident that happened at the end of the third season. “We do make progress. To us, it’s about her recovery and the traumatic brain injury she’s dealing with.”
Also, if you can believe it, Hope and Muriel might become friends in season 4. Tenney said to EW, “The friendship between Muriel and Hope is the most fun. It starts out being very mean… In the slow burn category, there will be moments that will make that relationship stronger.”
New Cast Members in ‘virgin River’ Season 4
Deadline reported on October 25, 2021, that two new cast members had joined for the fourth season. One you’ll know right away is Kai Bradbury, who played Doc’s long-lost grandson Denny Cutler at the end of season 3.
The other will be a completely new person: Mark Ghanimé will play Dr. Cameron Hayek, the new doctor in town. Per Deadline: (Opens in a new tab) “Cameron’s good looks, razor-sharp mind, and a smile that could light up the world give him instant fame, especially with the women of Virgin River.
