REASONS TO GO TO WITCHFEST

Gardner Village CEO Joe Long claims that “every year, thousands of would-be witches flock to the Village for Witches’ Night Out.” They arrive all out in their finest witchy garb and ready to do some serious retail therapy, nosh, and play. The inaugural WitchFest event, Witches Night Out, was the inspiration for the entire festival.

The brick-lined paths surrounding the historic Gardner flour mill provide the ideal setting for the property’s whimsical witch displays during WitchFest, evoking the ambiance and charm of an early Utah village. A stunning green-faced woman is spotted on the roof of a store, where she is presumably trying to boost the signal on her “eye” phone.

The Wicked Witch of the West is seen up in the sky, ferociously peddling her bicycle. Also, spare a thought for the elderly witch who was flying blind. She looks like a bug on a windshield, squashed up against the silo of the flour mill.

Puzzles and prints of a painting by internationally acclaimed folk artist Eric Dowdle, created for WitchFest, are available online and at Gardner Village’s Wanderlust and Seven Gables Mercantile. Along with the 30,000 pounds of pumpkins, 20,000 pounds of straw, and 500 bunches of cornstalks, Dowdle’s artwork provides additional ambience to the grounds during WitchFest. As the best fair, festival, and event in Utah in 2016, WitchFest was awarded the Best of State accolade.
