Jason Ferus Blum, An American producer of movies and television is, Blumhouse Productions, which produced the horror series Paranormal Activity (2007–2015), Insidious (2010–2018), and The Purge, was founded by him and serves as its CEO (2013–2021). Blum, the son of Shirley Neilsen Blum (née Neilsen) and Irving Blum, was born in Los Angeles, California. His father was a self-employed art dealer and the proprietor of the Ferus Gallery, while his mother was a professor of art. Blum has Jewish ancestry.

Career
Blum worked as an executive at Miramax for Bob and Harvey Weinstein and later as a freelance producer for Paramount Pictures. Blum worked as a producing director for Ethan Hawke’s Malaparte theatre company before joining Miramax. Blum graduated from Vassar College in 1991. He serves on the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ board of trustees.
After getting a letter from a family friend and performer Steve Martin endorsing the script, he was able to secure funding for his debut movie as a producer, Kicking and Screaming (1995). Blum sent copies of the script to Hollywood producers along with the letter.
