Natalie Cannoli (@nataliecannoli_ on TikTok) recounted how she once experienced severe relationship anxiety. Using this as justification, she admitted to utilizing Apple’s Find My iPhone feature to track her husband’s location to check for infidelity. She explained that they were going through a “rocky” patch, and she suspected her husband might be cheating when he didn’t show up at work in the morning.
Natalie shared, “One time, my husband got a new job, and I was really insecure at the time… Anyway, I checked his location at like 8am, which is when he was supposed to clock into work. And I just wanted to make sure he was at work.” She revealed that instead of being at his workplace, according to the app, he was at a nearby location. She then looked up the address where he was supposedly located and proceeded to search Facebook for all his coworkers’ names.
While investigating, she discovered a woman she suspected was involved with her husband. She said, “So I found her Facebook, and I know that she bought a house recently. And I’m like, of course.” Natalie believed that this woman must have purchased the house close to their job, matching the location where the app showed her husband. To confirm her theory, she checked the house sale post on her realtor’s Instagram and noticed that her husband’s female coworker ‘liked’ the photo, reinforcing her suspicions.
However, Natalie was in for a surprise: the Find My iPhone app had glitched, as apps often do. In reality, her husband was at work as he had claimed. This incident was ultimately a result of mistrust.
One commenter shared a similar experience with the app malfunctioning, explaining, “My man’s location was in a wooded area behind his job. I was crashing out. Then I FT him and he was just sitting at his desk.” Another observer criticized this type of behavior, stating, “Whoever is encouraging this behavior is also insane and will never have a healthy relationship ever.”
The reality is that an inability to have open, honest conversations with your partner may indicate deeper underlying issues. Such insecurity does not justify stalking or invading privacy through an app. This kind of conduct is unhealthy on all levels, and recognizing that is a crucial step towards improvement. Hopefully, Natalie has come to understand this now.
