On June 19, 2025, staff from Walmart Loss Prevention alerted the Millbrook Police Department that Terrence Lamons, a 39-year-old Montgomery resident, was present inside the Walmart located at 145 Kelley Blvd. Lamons was already under investigation by the Millbrook Police Department as a suspect in numerous prior theft incidents.

Patrol officers were dispatched to the scene and successfully took Lamons into custody without any issues. Following his apprehension, Lamons was transported to the Millbrook Police Department for further investigation. Detectives conducted an interview with Lamons, and he was subsequently formally charged with two counts of Organized Retail Theft.

Furthermore, Walmart loss prevention staff signed warrants for Theft of Property 4th Degree and Trespass related to merchandise Lamons allegedly stole from the store on June 19, 2025, just before being taken into custody. Lamons was then transported to the Elmore County Jail, where his bond was set at $60,000.

It seems that our previous warnings about individuals committing retail theft within the City of Millbrook may not have been heeded. Therefore, I will reiterate this point. We live in an age of advanced technology. Most retail establishments and many private residences today utilize video surveillance systems to safeguard their property and interests. Our local Walmart specifically employs sophisticated video surveillance technology and has highly competent loss prevention personnel.

Yesterday, our department was contacted by Walmart loss prevention staff who were observing an individual suspected of having committed several retail thefts at this location over the past month. Lamons is alleged to have carried out yet another theft from the business just prior to the arrival of our officers. Our officers responded promptly and quickly apprehended the alleged offender without incident. Our Criminal Investigations Unit conducted their investigation, which yielded sufficient probable cause to proceed with an arrest and prosecution against the alleged offender.

Our officers and detectives maintain an excellent collaborative relationship with the loss prevention team at our local Walmart. We remain ready to continue to apprehend and pursue legal action against those individuals who persist in committing retail thefts at businesses within our city. We encourage people to visit our city and enjoy the shopping and entertainment options available here. However, while we offer excellent hotel accommodations, with more in development, anyone who chooses to commit retail theft should understand that their only lodging option will be the Franklin Inn, more commonly known as the Elmore County Jail.
