Following the emotional cliffhanger in Version 3.3, Honkai: Star Rail is set to introduce the dawn of the Era Nova in 3.4, featuring the highly anticipated Fate collaboration. Earlier today, HSR hosted its Special Program for the upcoming update, which turned out to be one of the best yet. Phainon, the Deliverer, finally becomes a playable character, and he looks to be one of the strongest characters introduced in Amphoreus so far. Alongside him, a free Fate character will join, several reruns will return, and, as always, a variety of events will be available. It is time to complete the last Chrysos Heirs and brace for a new chapter in Amphoreus.
HONKAI: STAR RAIL VERSION 3.4 LAUNCHES ON JULY 2
If you missed the Special Program, here is the trailer for Version 3.4, titled “For the Sun is Set to Die,” which will be released on Honkai: Star Rail on July 2. For fans following the storyline, the new main quest centers around Phainon as he seeks to ignite the Era Nova. A major event will take place in Penacony: the Holy Grail War, part of the Fate/stay night (Unlimited Blade Works) collaboration. With some time before the update arrives, it is highly recommended to complete the extensive Version 3.3 story, which is one of the finest narratives since Version 2.2.

Version 3.4 introduces three new characters, starting with Phainon. He joins as a 5-star Physical character on the Path of Destruction. Phainon’s gameplay is unique, involving collecting Coreflames during combat. Once he amasses enough, he can unleash his Ultimate, which temporarily removes all other teammates from battle. Besides Phainon, reruns of Tribbie, Sunday, and Sparkle will also be available. Each of these characters offers exceptional support capabilities, so it’s advisable to try and secure at least one if you haven’t already.

For those eagerly awaiting the Fate collaboration, it will officially launch on July 11, featuring Archer and Saber. Archer will be available for free and is a 5-star Quantum character who follows the Path of the Hunt. Notably, his Ultimate includes the iconic “I’m the bone of my sword” lines. Saber is a 5-star Wind character aligned with the Path of Destruction and wields the legendary Excalibur in combat. According to the Special Program, the collaboration event will remain accessible beyond Version 3.4, allowing players to obtain Phainon without missing their chance to acquire Saber or additional Archer Eidolons. Players can also get Archer’s signature Light Cone after spending 200 Star Rail Special Passes on any banner.
Finally, Firefly, Jingliu, and Blade will join in the latter half of the update. This is a perfect moment to explore new combat enhancements for Jingliu and Blade. Additionally, Kafka and Silver Wolf will receive combat updates.
Beyond characters, Version 3.4 introduces many new events and features. A new “skip dialogue” option is being added, although it’s recommended to experience the story fully, as it’s a highlight of HSR. The returning Candy Crush-style event, Origami Bird, will also make its appearance.
Overall, Version 3.4 appears to be another fantastic update for Honkai: Star Rail. If you’ve been away, there’s still plenty of time to complete current events and save all the Stellar Jade from Version 3.3, as it looks like everyone will need it.
