A strange hit-and-run incident took place in Discovery Bay, California, when a boat carrying a group of people collided with a jet ski and then fled the area. Videos of the event were shared on Instagram.

Discovery Bay boat incident

From the footage, a man could be seen calmly floating on his jet ski, bobbing gently with the waves as he stood and looked ahead. Suddenly, a boat filled with many people arrived. The passengers were laughing, loudly talking, and creating a noisy scene, clearly intoxicated.

At first, the jet ski rider passed the boat without any issues. However, after circling around the dock, he encountered the boat again, and a collision occurred. The boat rapidly accelerated, attempting to navigate through other boats near the dock, but ended up ramming into the jet ski. This threw the jet ski rider into the water, prompting screams of alarm from onlookers.

Instead of stopping, the boat increased its speed, made a sharp turn, crashed into the dock once more, and sped away, striking additional boats along the way.

Another video captured the victim climbing out of the water onto the dock, rather than returning to his jet ski. The woman filming remarked, “He’s on the dock, but they’ve hit so many boats. So many boats.” The video also provided a clearer view of how the boat sped off, with the partygoers seemingly unconcerned about the damage they caused.

The footage caused widespread fury online, with many users demanding the arrest of the individuals on the boat. Comments included:

  • “WTF!!! 🤬 Drinking, boating, and egos are never a good mix. Hope whoever is okay and the psycho is apprehended.”
  • “What about the fact he tried to kill the guy on the jetski. F*ck everything else smh.”
  • “Welp… that’s how you lose your boat in 60 seconds.”
  • “Attempted vehicular manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident… boating while intoxicated, to name a few.”
  • “The alcoholics that live in that city… This isn’t new 😂”
  • Calls for all passengers on the boat to be charged for encouraging reckless behavior, labeling it a “felony level assault as well as hit and run.”
  • One sarcastically noted, “My daddy will buy me another boat and I won’t see a day in jail 😂😂😂”

Though the suspects have not yet been identified, local sheriff and Contra Costa County Fire officials have been informed about the incident.
