Drive-Thru Rage in Dallas After Customer Hurls Receipt and Threatens Teen Employee: ‘Why Are People So Rude?’

Updated On:

It appears that some individuals still find it difficult to regard fast food employees as fellow human beings. Unfortunately, it’s common to hear reports of these workers being yelled at or mistreated by customers source. While there’s a traditional saying that the customer is always right, this mainly pertains to preferences or quality of service and does not justify abusive conduct.

Regrettably, a similar incident happened recently in Dallas, Texas source. It involved a man in a red car and a teenage drive-thru worker.

The entire encounter was captured on dashcam by Reddit user zughzz. In the footage, the redditor is seen waiting behind the red car in the drive-thru queue. Initially, everything seems normal as the teenage worker hands the customer his order.

The precise circumstances between the two are unclear since the audio is only recorded inside zughzz’s vehicle. It seems that the teen may have forgotten to hand the customer a receipt. Fortunately, the situation did not escalate further. The man drove off, and zughzz moved forward. She apologized to the teen worker for the behavior he endured, expressing that he did not deserve such treatment. The worker responded quietly with a thank you.

User zughzz also posted the video on the Dallas subreddit, where it quickly caught the attention of online viewers. Many condemned the man’s conduct, describing it as an overreaction and completely unwarranted. One commenter questioned, “Why are people so rude? Like everyone is just trying their best to survive ffs. Feel so bad for the kid.”

Others indicated they were not surprised, sharing personal experiences of living in the area and witnessing similar behavior. They described a sense of entitlement and snobbery among some locals, suggesting it often feels like they treat the city as their personal gated community.

Another user contributed, “I used to work at a Braum’s from 16 to 19, this isn’t uncommon. People suck and think fast food workers deserve to be treated like that.”

Some users mocked the man’s outburst, labeling him emotionally immature and lacking self-control. One joked, “As he’s driving away AND to a kid. Real big tough guy energy coming from that car. He’s on his way home to rub his momma’s feet.”
