The short clip reportedly takes place in Vancouver, as indicated in the YouTube video description of the same footage. The video shows a dark grey car parked on the sidewalk, with one teenager sitting on the trunk and several others quickly climbing onto the car’s roof. The reason for their sudden alarm is unclear at first, but moments later, a grey pitbull dashes into view and runs past the vehicle.
While the dog is momentarily out of sight, the youths scramble higher to escape the snapping jaws that remain nearby. Shortly after, the pitbull leaps onto the car and attempts to bite the leg of a young girl standing on the hood, narrowly missing her. Undeterred, the dog continues to circle the vehicle like a predator, fixating on the youths as if they are its prey.
Despite several leaps and near-misses, the pitbull maintains its aggressive assault, running in circles and searching for a way to reach the teens. The terrified group clings to each other atop the car to avoid falling off. In one instance, a teen tries to slap the dog’s head as it lunges to bite.
At one point, the pitbull manages to scramble onto the car’s windshield, forcing a teenager to kick it away, but the dog persists. Some of the youths eventually jump down and start to run, with the dog briefly pursuing them before returning to the vehicle.
Details about any injuries sustained during the attack remain unknown, as limited information has been released to the public about this disturbing event.
As the video circulated on social media, numerous viewers shared their reactions. On Reddit, one commenter raised a serious question: “Serious question. How would you defend yourself if faced with one of these and you couldn’t get away? No weapons on you at the start of the attack.” This sparked an extensive discussion offering practical advice:
- “Avoid eye contact, loudly and firmly yell ‘STOP’ or ‘DOWN’ or ‘NO’ (or similar), try to dangle a jacket or something in front of you (think like a bull – it’s going to target whatever is in front of its face first), and lastly, if you absolutely must fight, aim for the nose/throat/eyes. Also, if you get bitten, as counterintuitive as it seems, don’t yank away – this causes severe trauma. Instead, push into the bite to try to target the eyes or throat; this increases the chance of the dog releasing its grip. … also, I hope you never have to use the above. 😭” — awarapu2
- “Yep. 100%. I did what these comments suggest to a pitbull attacking my husky. The pit broke through our fence and bit his neck. I bent his legs upward, thinking a broken leg might stop him, but it didn’t. Even when I got him loose by sticking a stick up his rear, he ran straight back at my husky, knocking me down in the process. I had to stab him fourteen times—in the heart. He did NOT release until the final stab. During the first 13 stabs, he held on fiercely. I believe he was a fighting dog, given his lifestyle with our neighbors (he was our neighbor’s dog). So, I think he was bred for fighting. As crazy as that sounds.” — AmberxLuff
- “Can’t emphasize enough ‘don’t yank away.’ Dogs clamp down hard when they bite; pulling the bitten body part off will only tear it apart. If I were caught like that, I’d try to choke the dog. This would cause it to instinctively open its mouth, and with enough force/time, the dog would pass out. Then you get out fast.” — theCOMBOguy
One lighter comment humorously asked, “What happened to the roof of my car!?” alluding to the damage that might have been inflicted on the vehicle that served as a refuge from the ferocious pitbull.
Hopefully, no one suffered injuries during this terrifying ordeal. Authorities must apprehend the dog responsible, as being bitten by a pitbull is a serious matter.
