The Death Stranding community has recently been treated to several thrilling updates, including an upcoming live-action film and an anime adaptation. With Death Stranding 2: On the Beach scheduled to launch next week, fans of the series are experiencing an exciting period. Now, there is an additional delight: an animated movie set within the Death Stranding universe has been officially confirmed to be in development.
According to the latest report from Deadline, Kojima Productions, in collaboration with the animation studio Line Mileage, announced that Aaron Guzikowski will be writing the screenplay for the new animated film based on the Death Stranding world. Moreover, this forthcoming animated feature is targeted towards a mature audience, similar to the recently released Predator: Killer of Killers.
Aaron Guzikowski is a well-known screenwriter with credits including the film Prisoners (2013), HBO’s series Raised by Wolves (2020–2022), among others. He expressed his enthusiasm as a fan of Kojima’s work and his eagerness to craft an original story within this richly imaginative universe:
“I love the world of Death Stranding, it’s so creatively freeing, so beautifully dark and yet hopeful. I’m so excited and honored that Hideo Kojima, whose work I’ve long admired, has invited me to dwell within his creation, to birth new stories into this fertile, mind-bending universe.”
Guzikowski also conveyed his passion for animation, stating: “Drawing and animation have always been near and dear to my heart, so to finally get to play in this space is a dream come true.”
At present, details are limited, but the upcoming mature-rated animated feature will present a fresh storyline set in the captivating Death Stranding environment. What are your thoughts on this new adult animated Death Stranding movie? Share your opinions in the comments below.
