Midjourney is recognized for its exceptional image generation AI models. The company has now introduced its inaugural video generation AI model, named ‘V1’. In addition to its image generation capabilities, users can now click on “Animate” to produce four 5-second videos. Essentially, you can convert still images into videos using the Midjourney V1 model.
The most impressive feature is the ability to upload existing images externally to animate them and create a seamless motion video here. The model utilizes your image as the initial frame, allowing you to incorporate a motion prompt to specify the type of video you wish to create.
It is important to note that Midjourney V1 is not available for free—users must subscribe to a $10 per month plan. There are also options for “high motion” and “low motion” settings, catering to different motion styles in video production. Low motion is ideal for ambient scenes, whereas high motion suits situations where action is prominent throughout the video.
Once you are satisfied with the generated video, you can extend it by an additional four seconds. This can be done up to four times. Currently, ByteDance’s Seedance 1.0 and Google’s Veo 3 are leading the way as the top video generation AI models in the Artificial Analysis Video Arena leaderboard. It will be intriguing to see how Midjourney V1 performs in the competitive landscape of video generation.
