Millbrook Police Department

On Friday, June 13, 2025, a Millbrook police officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Alabama Highway 143 and Alabama River Parkway. The vehicle failed to stop, proceeding eastward on Alabama River Parkway and reaching speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.

The vehicle continued eastward on Alabama River Parkway until reaching the toll bridge, where it executed a U-turn, heading westbound. It again accelerated to speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, still refusing to stop.

The 2022 Nissan sedan then proceeded through the intersection of Alabama River Parkway and Alabama Highway 143, nearly striking another vehicle. The driver subsequently lost control, leaving the roadway and colliding with a power pole and guidewire.

The driver, identified as Anastasia T. Philpot, a 27-year-old Montgomery resident, was immediately taken into custody without injury. The passenger, Jasmyn J. Johnson, a 21-year-old Montgomery resident, fled the vehicle on foot. Johnson was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit near Cathouse Marine.

Arrests and Charges

Johnson was also taken into custody without incident or injury. Alabama Power Company responded to repair damage to its infrastructure, resulting in a temporary power outage in the immediate area until repairs were completed.

Philpot was arrested and charged with felony Attempting to Elude and Reckless Endangerment. Johnson was arrested and charged with Attempting to Elude.

Both individuals were transported to the Millbrook Police Department for processing and later transferred to the Elmore County Jail pending bond.

Additional Information

Law enforcement officials believe there is a strong possibility that narcotics may have been present in the vehicle before it stopped, as there was a strong odor of marijuana. However, no narcotics were found. A loaded firearm was recovered from the vehicle and impounded following the arrests.

Given the circumstances, both individuals are fortunate that jail is the only consequence of their actions. Their decision to evade law enforcement endangered themselves, the officers involved, and other drivers. The courts will consider this during sentencing. Alabama Power may also pursue prosecution against the driver for the damage to their equipment.
