No one likes feeling uneasy due to someone else. At its worst, this discomfort can escalate into stalking, turning an unpleasant experience into a criminal one. On TikTok, a Florida woman shared her story about being stalked by a man who attended the same gym, likely to approach her. Now, she reveals the shock she experienced upon returning to her hometown gym years later.
Alexa (@alexaabney69) posted on TikTok asking, “Tell me if you would cancel your gym membership or not.” She recounted that when she was just 16, she went to a local Gold’s Gym where a man in his 40s or 50s approached her. He said, “Hey, I’ve seen you here a lot. These are really good habits to get into. Good job; keep up the good work. Keep showing up for yourself.”
This interaction initially seemed harmless—a friendly man proud to see her making positive choices. However, as time went on, Alexa grew uneasy about his presence. She even changed her gym routine to early mornings, yet he continued to show up and approach her, expressing pride.
One day, Alexa and her mother visited a local tanning salon where they encountered the same man. Alexa’s mom noticed his odd stare. Later, the salon owner called them, warning, “Never talk to him again.” The owner explained, “He told me, ‘That girl is so hot; I would love to get with her. Can you give me her address?’” The man was immediately kicked out and banned from the salon.
While Alexa found these episodes unsettling, she was soon leaving town for college and wasn’t overly concerned. “Now, seven years later, I hadn’t thought about it until this morning when I saw him at the gym,” she said. “He had the audacity to come up to me and say, ‘Hey, how are you? How have you been? It’s been a while.’ I don’t know, maybe I’m overreacting, but that’s really weird behavior.”
On TikTok, a user with law enforcement experience advised, “Even if you tell the gym and they remove him, he still knows where you work out. I’d go somewhere else altogether. Also, file something with the police so there’s documentation in case things escalate. Start it now.”
The fact that years have passed and he still feels compelled to approach Alexa highlights a frightening reality. No one should ever feel unsafe or uneasy like this. Alexa should seriously consider filing a police report because stalking is a serious issue that demands attention.
